Qatar Denounces Israeli Minister's Actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

The State of Qatar has issued a strong denunciation following the provocative actions of Israel's far-right National Security Minister at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, compounded by the presence of Israeli settlers supported by military forces.

In a Friday statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized these actions as blatant breaches of both international law and humanitarian principles, asserting that they provoke outrage among Muslims globally.

Qatar also criticized the barriers placed on worshipers attempting to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque. The ministry expressed concern that such provocations threaten to alter the established historical and legal fabric of occupied Jerusalem, particularly impacting its Islamic and Christian sanctuaries.

The statement highlighted that Al-Aqsa Mosque serves as a sacred space solely for Muslims, insisting that any unilateral actions by Israel aimed at altering the status of Jerusalem or its holy sites defy international legality.

Qatar cautioned that ongoing instigations and violations might escalate tensions and instability in the region, undermining ongoing peace initiatives.

The ministry reiterated its appeal for the global community to exert pressure on Israel, the occupying authority, to cease violations against Palestinian communities and their sacred sites, while urging compliance with international mandates.

Qatar reaffirmed its steadfast backing for the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people, advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 boundaries with East Jerusalem as its capital.
