Qatar Denounces Israeli Minister's Incursion into Al-Aqsa Mosque

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Qatar has emphatically denounced the incursion into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by Israel’s National Security Minister, alongside provocative actions by Israeli settlers shielded by Israeli occupation forces.

In a statement released on Friday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs labeled the incident a stark violation of both international law and humanitarian principles. The ministry remarked that such actions are an outrageous provocation to millions of Muslims worldwide.

Additionally, Qatar condemned the limitations placed on worshippers seeking to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque. The ministry cautioned that these recurring acts threaten to alter the historical and legal context of occupied Jerusalem, along with its Islamic and Christian sacred sites.

The ministry emphasized that Al-Aqsa Mosque serves solely as a place of worship for Muslims. It stated that any unilateral actions aimed at shifting the identity and legal standing of Jerusalem and its holy sites are deemed invalid under international law.

Qatar cautioned that ongoing violations and provocations could escalate violence and instability in the region and hinder international efforts focused on restoring peace and tranquility.

The ministry reiterated its call for the international community to urgently intervene to halt Israel’s persistent violations against the Palestinian people and their sacred sites. It also urged Israel to adhere to international resolutions.

Furthermore, Qatar reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the rights of Palestinians, reiterating its backing for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
