Diljit Dosanjh Remains Composed Amid Khalistani Extremist Threats

Post by : Mina Rahman

Recently, Punjabi sensation Diljit Dosanjh found himself threatened by Khalistani extremists amidst his global concert appearances.

Threats During His Performances

During a concert in Perth, reports surfaced of pro-Khalistan slogans being shouted, coinciding with threats from US-based Khalistani extremist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. Additionally, his upcoming show in Auckland, New Zealand, faces potential disruption as well.

In light of these events, Diljit has retained his calm, continuing his performances and engaging with the audience. He expressed gratitude towards his Adelaide fans for their unwavering support and encouraged everyone to prioritize calmness over worrying about external pressures.

Background Information

The threats emerged following his appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, where a gesture of respect towards Amitabh Bachchan ignited a wave of criticism from Khalistani supporters. Pannun, alongside his banned organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), released a video denouncing the artist, claiming he had insulted the memories of the 1984 Sikh genocide.

Pannun declared, "By paying homage to Bachchan, whose words fueled genocide, Diljit Dosanjh has offended every victim, every widow, and every orphan of the 1984 Sikh Genocide."

The SFJ is banned in India as per the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act due to its separatist endeavors, with the Ministry of Home Affairs identifying it as involved in "activities that threaten the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India."

Diljit's Reaction

Diljit emphasized that his appearance on KBC aimed to raise awareness and funds for victims of Punjab floods rather than promote any cinematic project. At his Brisbane concert, he addressed the tensions, promoting a message of peace:

"Always discuss love. For me, this world is one. My Guru teaches, 'Ik Onkar.' My message is one of love for all, despite any jealousy or trolling I may face. I will forever champion love."

He urged individuals to reflect on their intentions and actions, letting the outcomes rest in divine hands, thereby reinforcing his commitment to positivity and compassion.
