Preity Zinta, co-owner of Punjab Kings and renowned actress, expressed her gratitude to fans after the team's heartbreaking near-miss in qualifying for the IPL 2026 playoffs.
The team concluded the season in fifth place with 15 points, falling just one point shy of a playoff berth. With expectations high due to a strong previous season where they were runners-up, hopes were notably elevated.
Punjab Kings began their journey with great momentum, achieving six consecutive victories and establishing themselves as leading contenders early in the tournament.
However, the latter half of the season proved challenging as securing wins became increasingly difficult. Despite their relentless effort, the Kings were unable to break into the top four, officially concluding their playoff ambitions after the last league matches had played out.
Post-exit, Zinta took to X to deliver an emotional thank you to their supporters, acknowledging their unwavering loyalty throughout the turbulent season.
She wrote, “Thank you to all our PBKS supporters for standing strong with us on this rollercoaster ride of IPL 2026. From all the ups and downs, your love made everything feel more whole. Until next time, sending you all my love and best wishes.”
Zinta remained optimistic throughout the season, consistently motivating fans and players even when faced with defeats. After the first loss that broke their winning streak, she encouraged fans, noting that many matches were still ahead.
In other IPL news, the playoff bracket was finalized as Rajasthan Royals claimed the final playoff spot, defeating Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru also secured their place in the IPL 2026 final, overcoming Gujarat Titans by 92 runs in Qualifier 1 at Narendra Modi Stadium.
