The Sultanate of Oman has made a significant mark on the global stage by securing four medals at the International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition 2026, taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This accomplishment underscores Oman's advancement in the fields of scientific research, innovation, and cutting-edge technology.
Representatives from the Research and Innovation Authority saw Oman achieve three gold medals and one silver during the renowned ITEX 2026 exhibition. This event featured over 1,000 inventions from 17 different countries, establishing it as one of the premier platforms for innovation worldwide.
Nahya Nasser Al Hamdani was awarded one of Oman's gold medals for her creation of smart glasses coupled with a mobile application aimed at assisting blind and visually impaired individuals. This advancement enables users to navigate their environments safely and enhances their independent mobility through sophisticated digital support systems.
Luqman Sulaiman Al Dhafri won the second gold with his groundbreaking project, the “Drone-Air Lens.” This innovation employs drones equipped with artificial intelligence and machine learning to perform automated aircraft inspections with remarkable speed and precision. Furthermore, this project garnered a special accolade for being the best invention at the exhibition.
The third gold medal was awarded to Zaher Salim Al Alawi for his development of an advanced biotherapeutic platform that accelerates healing for chronic and diabetic wounds. On a similar note, Balqees Salim Al Hikmani secured a silver medal for her invention of a closed-loop smart medical system that helps regulate potassium levels in patients with heart conditions.
