Chernihiv, Ukraine – In the midst of air raids and blackouts, employees at Nova Post, one of Ukraine’s largest private postal firms, continue to deliver parcels across the country. On a typical November morning in Chernihiv, sirens forced staff and customers to take shelter in a concrete bunker. Minutes later, they returned to sorting parcels, showing resilience that has defined the company during nearly four years of war.
Since Russia’s invasion, Nova Post has adapted to missile strikes, broken transport routes, and electricity blackouts. Despite these challenges, the firm now delivers over 1.5 million parcels daily, connecting people and businesses across Ukraine. It has expanded operations to 16 countries in Europe and plans further growth in 2026.
Founded in 2001, Nova Post disrupted Ukraine’s postal market by offering fast one- to two-day deliveries, challenging the state-owned Ukrposhta. During the war, it has become a critical lifeline, linking western Ukraine to frontline cities in the east and south, and delivering to Ukrainian refugees across Europe.
Running a business amid war has exacted a heavy cost. The company has lost 249 employees, including those drafted into the army and civilians killed in Russian strikes. Financial damages since the start of the invasion amount to around 4 billion hryvnias ($97 million), including destroyed parcels and damaged branches. Yet, the company continues to operate in frontline cities, often being the last major business to leave conflict zones.
Nova Post’s innovations ensure uninterrupted service. Large sorting depots and branches are equipped with generators and Starlink internet connections, allowing operations to continue even during blackouts. Customers often visit branches to charge phones or access electricity.
The company employs around 30,000 people and has grown its network to nearly 33,000 automated parcel machines and 15,000 branches in 2025. Net profits rose 35% in the first nine months of 2025, reaching 2.88 billion hryvnias ($67 million), showing remarkable growth despite the war.
Looking beyond Ukraine, Nova Post is expanding internationally, increasing deliveries to Europe, the United States, China, and other countries. It has become a symbol of corporate resilience and innovation in a war-torn economy.
As the holiday season approaches, Nova Post has also introduced festive packaging inspired by traditional Ukrainian art, Vytynanka, ensuring each parcel delivers a moment of joy. The firm demonstrates that even amid the horrors of war, ingenuity and determination can connect communities, sustain businesses, and bring hope to a nation.
