NIA Arrests Three Al-Falah Doctors in Red Fort Blast Investigation

NIA Arrests Three Al-Falah Doctors in Red Fort Blast Investigation

Post by : Raina Nasser

A chilling explosion near the historical Red Fort in New Delhi has left nine people dead and over twenty injured. In response, India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) has assumed control of the inquiry, now focusing on three doctors affiliated with Al-Falah University located in Faridabad.

The detained individuals—Muzammil Shakeel, Umar Mohammed, and Shaheen Shahid—are under scrutiny. Muzammil and Umar, both from Kashmir, along with Shaheen, who hails from Lucknow, had professional connections to Al-Falah University and were employed at its hospital in the region.

Reports have surfaced indicating that Muzammil's name came up during investigations into a significant explosives cache discovered in Faridabad. About 2,900 kg of bomb-making supplies and suspicious items were located in two rooms Muzammil rented, even though he resides on campus. Additional weaponry, such as assault rifles and ammunition, were found in a vehicle associated with Shaheen Shahid, who is suspected of being involved with the Jaish-e-Mohammed women's branch led by Sadia Azhar, sister to the group's founder.

Authorities believe that Umar Mohammed, closely linked to Muzammil, may have operated the Hyundai i20 responsible for the explosion at a Delhi traffic signal. Investigators are examining the possibility that this explosion was a suicide mission prompted by police action against Muzammil and the discovery of explosives.

Delhi Police have conducted visits to Al-Falah University, examining CCTV footage and interviewing faculty and students to compile more evidence. This incident has raised alarming questions regarding potential terrorist activities disguised within educational institutions.

The involvement of the NIA highlights the seriousness of the incident and its connections to organized terrorist activities. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are working to connect the dots between the seized explosives, the individuals affiliated with the university, and the tragic explosion near the Red Fort.
