The National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) recently held an important meeting with the Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee to talk about how they can work better together. Both sides want to improve the way human rights are protected and followed in the Arab region, especially in the UAE.
This meeting was attended by Maqsoud Kruse, who is the Chairperson of the NHRI, and Counsellor Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, who leads the Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee. The goal of the meeting was to share ideas and build a stronger connection between the two groups.
During the discussions, they talked about how both organizations could support each other to follow the rules of the Arab Charter on Human Rights. They also spoke about using the best methods and practices from around the world to make sure people’s basic rights and freedoms are respected and protected.
The visiting group from the Arab Committee was also given a full explanation of the NHRI’s role. As an independent body, the NHRI works to protect human rights in the UAE. It plays an important part in supporting the country’s human rights work, both at home and in international settings.
Everyone agreed that by working together and sharing their knowledge, they can do even more to promote and protect the rights of all people.
