Nawat Itsaragrisil Initiates Legal Action Against Miss Universe 2025

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

A notable controversy has emerged within the beauty pageant community as Nawat Itsaragrisil, president of Miss Grand International (MGI), has filed a defamation lawsuit against Fatima Bosch, the current Miss Universe 2025. The dispute arose during a pre-event gathering in Thailand and has transformed into a significant legal matter.

The conflict ignited on November 4 when a livestream by Miss Universe Thailand featured Nawat confronting Fatima regarding her purported refusal to participate in a scheduled social media photoshoot. He alleged that her actions were directed by the director of Mexico's national pageant. Fatima countered the claim, provoking a public disagreement that quickly went viral.

As snippets from the livestream began to circulate, multiple media outlets claimed that Nawat referred to Fatima as a “dumbhead.” However, MGI later contested this narrative, asserting that Nawat’s actual comment was directed at the situation, not a personal insult. They provided clarity by stating his full remark: “If you follow the order from your national director you’re damage, if you not you can do it. I very happy and the good report will go to organise…”

On December 3, MGI released a statement via Miss Universe Thailand, emphasizing that Fatima continued to make what they described as misleading statements in interviews, even after being made aware of the supposed accurate audio. They argued that her ongoing comments had adversely affected Nawat's reputation throughout the pageant process, which ultimately led to her Miss Universe title.

In light of these unfolding events, Nawat lodged a criminal complaint against Fatima in Thailand on November 12, marking an unusual legal clash involving two of pageantry’s most recognized figures. The case is presently moving forward under Thai legal jurisdiction, with both parties adhering firmly to their versions of the events that gave rise to this controversy.
