Tragedy on Malaysian Highway: Bangladeshi Man Dies in DUI Accident

Post by : Shakul

A heart-wrenching incident in Kuala Lumpur has resulted in the tragic demise of a 22-year-old Bangladeshi man, linked to alleged drunk driving. The accident unfolded on the Maju Expressway (MEX) shortly after the victim and his wife departed the airport, marking a journey that turned disastrous.

Identified as Muzahid Millad, the young man was riding in an e-hailing vehicle when it was violently hit by another car. The force of the collision left him with catastrophic head injuries, leading to his death at the scene.

Initial police investigations revealed that a Ford Fiesta, driven by a 31-year-old military officer, had veered into the opposing lane, colliding head-on with the e-hailing car. Authorities have since detained the officer, who is now in custody for five days to aid in the ongoing investigation, with court approval due to the severe nature of the incident.

A breathalyser test indicated that the officer's blood alcohol content exceeded legal limits, while subsequent tests confirmed the absence of drugs, pinpointing alcohol as the main factor in the crash.

Several others involved sustained injuries; the victim’s wife, aged 20, is currently hospitalized, while the e-hailing driver and the military officer, along with a female passenger, also suffered injuries from the incident.

Emergency responders arrived promptly, offering medical aid and addressing the traffic situation caused by the wreck. This tragic accident has instigated serious concerns regarding road safety, emphasizing the dangers of drunk driving and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws.

As the investigation continues, authorities remain committed to uncovering all details surrounding this unfortunate event, underscoring the necessity for accountability and enhanced safety measures on the road.
