Dubai — Emirates concluded an impressive week at the Dubai Airshow, attracting aviation fans and industry leaders with its most extensive exhibition of Airbus A380, A350, and Boeing 777 models. Over 82,000 attendees explored Emirates' fleet, with more than 15,000 experiencing the swift Starlink high-speed Wi-Fi aboard a Boeing 777, showcasing the airline's commitment to enhanced connectivity in air travel.
Fleet Expansion and Future Commitments
The airline revealed plans for a significant enhancement of its wide-body fleet, confirming orders for 65 Boeing 777-9s and 8 Airbus A350-900s for a total investment of $41.4 billion. This development increases Emirates' total aircraft orders to 375, with deliveries expected through 2038, emphasizing the airline's long-term growth vision.
Next-Gen Cabins and Connectivity Initiatives
Emirates outlined plans to retrofit 111 aircraft with state-of-the-art cabin features and engaging entertainment options. Additionally, Starlink Wi-Fi will be integrated on 232 planes in the coming two years. Attendees had the chance to experience this high-speed connectivity, underscoring Emirates' strategy to enhance the comfort and digital experience of its passengers.
Global Partnerships Strengthened
The airline fortified its codeshare agreement with South African Airways and extended its partnership with Air Canada until 2032, enhancing coordination across loyalty programs and operational efforts. Emirates continues to collaborate closely with flydubai, presenting a expanding global network synergy.
Sustainable Aviation and Efficiency Improvements
Aligning with Dubai's sustainability goals, Emirates signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ENOC to investigate the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Collaborations with Thales focus on optimizing arrival patterns at DXB, improving airspace efficiency, while Emirates' partnership with OpenAI aims to integrate ChatGPT Enterprise for AI training and organizational enhancements.
Advancements in Cargo and Aerospace Manufacturing
Emirates SkyCargo and LODD Autonomous will investigate hybrid unmanned cargo aircraft, leading the way in next-gen logistics solutions. The airline also signed several MoUs to advance Dubai's aerospace sector:
Safran Seats: Dubai’s inaugural aircraft seat manufacturing facility for retrofitting and future line-fit production.
CCE Group: Collaborating on developing innovative cabin and cargo products.
Rolls-Royce: Trent 900 engine MRO for Emirates’ A380 fleet starting in 2027, extending TotalCare service into the 2040s.
Emirates Engineering achieved the distinction of being the first in the UAE to receive Design Organisation Approval (DOA) from the GCAA, facilitating local certification of significant aircraft modifications and advancing the national expertise in aerospace.
Awards and Recognition
During the event, the airline's accomplishments were celebrated, winning the title of ‘Best Airline in the World’ for the eighth consecutive year at the ULTRAs travel awards, along with Airline of the Year and Best First Class of the Year at the Aviation Business Middle East Awards 2025.
