Seoul – On Friday, LG Electronics Inc. announced its ongoing discussions with Microsoft to explore extensive business cooperation in the rapidly changing landscape of AI data centers. As of now, no formal agreements have been established.
This initiative was reported by the Korea Economic Daily, indicating that LG Electronics, alongside LG Energy Solution and various affiliates, could deliver critical components and software to enhance Microsoft’s AI infrastructure. These offerings are likely to encompass sophisticated temperature management systems and energy storage solutions, which are crucial for the effective functioning of high-capacity data centers.
Experts in the industry highlight that Microsoft is vigorously expanding its AI capabilities, significantly investing in global data centers to meet the increased demand for cloud computing and AI services. South Korean tech firms, renowned for their prowess in semiconductors, energy storage, and industrial machinery, are perceived as optimal collaborators for such extensive initiatives.
According to a regulatory filing by LG, while talks are active, there are no binding agreements finalized, stressing the initial phase of the discussions.
