Inaugural Emirates Falcon Racing Cup to Launch in Kuwait

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Under the guidance of the UAE leadership, the very first Emirates Falcon Racing Cup is poised to kick off this Thursday in Kuwait, marking a pivotal moment for the rapidly emerging sport. Set to take place from 4 to 7 December, the championship will bring together esteemed falconers from across the region, with ambitions to elevate falcon racing to an international level.

This tournament is a key initiative of the UAE Falcons Federation's broader strategy to promote falconry as a well-structured global sport. As a founding member of the International Federation for Falconry Sports and Racing, the UAE is dedicated to evolving falconry from a traditional pastime into a contemporary and competitive sport recognized internationally.

In advance of the competition, the organizing teams have successfully completed all technical and logistical preparations. Championship rules have been disseminated across official channels, a digital registration application has been launched for participants, and the complete programme for the opening ceremony along with related events is now confirmed.

The UAE Federation emphasized that this inaugural edition in Kuwait will set a precedent for future international tournaments among member nations according to established guidelines. Additionally, participation from Kuwaiti falconers has been encouraged, providing them with the opportunity to compete in a premier environment and contribute to the sport's burgeoning growth.

The upcoming Emirates Falcon Racing Cup will host seven races in the Farkh category, which includes four main rounds, one Hur round, and one Shaheen round dedicated to farm-bred falcons. The event will culminate in the Cup Race, featuring the top five falcons from each main round battling for the title. Categories will include Pure Jeer, Jeer–Shaheen, Qarmousha, and Jeer–Taba'. A total prize pool of AED 500,000 has been earmarked for the victors.

With all preparations finalized and robust collaboration with Kuwaiti teams and committees, the championship is set for a remarkable inauguration. This event aspires to fortify the UAE’s role in promoting falcon racing on a global scale while preserving the sport’s rich heritage for the coming generations.
