Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, led the Council's inaugural meeting of 2026 at Dubai Media. The meeting's agenda centered around reviewing the strategic plans aimed at fortifying Dubai's identity as a pivotal global media and creative economy hub.
During the session, Sheikh Ahmed sanctioned the rollout of Dubai+, an innovative digital platform designed to offer a wide array of media content for families. This initiative addresses shifting digital consumption patterns and burgeoning demand for both local and global entertainment. Dubai+ will host numerous Arab and international series and films, reinforcing Dubai's stature as a central content production and distribution beacon in the region.
The Council also explored strategies to enhance local film production, positioning cinema as a vital cultural and creative sector. Samr Al Marzooqi, Director of Films and Production at the Dubai Media Council, shared forthcoming projects aimed at nurturing the film industry, investing in creative talent, and highlighting Emirati and international filmmakers.
The agenda included discussions about the upcoming UAE–Kuwait Media Celebration, organized by the Dubai Press Club under the auspices of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This event seeks to strengthen media cooperation and cultural connections between the two nations.
Council members were informed about significant national and community campaigns spearheaded by Brand Dubai in 2025, which include the #ZayedAndRashid initiative and the Hatta Winter event under the #DubaiDestinations campaign.
On a related note, Sheikh Ahmed reviewed cutting-edge external broadcasting technologies inaugurated by Dubai Media and affiliated partners, some of which are being introduced to the Middle East for the first time.
Emphasizing media’s vital role in shaping public perceptions, aiding development, and fostering trust, Sheikh Ahmed reaffirmed the necessity of investing in talent, empowering the youth, and leveraging AI and technology to attract specialized investments, propelling the growth of Dubai’s media landscape.
Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, stated that strategic initiatives will be executed with well-defined governance structures and measurable outcomes.
