As of the end of September, a total of thirty-two Cambodian firms have registered with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, including eight new entrants in the first three quarters of this year, reported Salem AlShamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers.
During the “Doing Business with Cambodia” forum, AlShamsi highlighted that this uptick signifies a robust investment landscape linking Dubai and Cambodia. He further underscored the Chamber's commitment to boosting these figures to foster enduring economic partnerships between both nations.
AlShamsi stressed that Cambodia’s eagerness to establish new agreements with Dubai-based enterprises reaffirms the strength of their bilateral relationship and a collective aim to enhance economic collaboration. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and Cambodia has opened pathways for trade and investment, facilitating increased commercial activity and capital exchanges.
In 2024, non-oil trade between Dubai and Cambodia surpassed US$394 million, laying a strong foundation for future growth and synergy. He noted that Dubai serves as a strategic nexus for Cambodian businesses aiming for international growth, offering access to rapidly growing markets in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, backed by top-notch infrastructure, global logistics frameworks, and a conducive business atmosphere.
The “Doing Business in Cambodia” forum was held as part of a trade mission by Dubai Chamber, which included a delegation of 16 Emirati business leaders from diverse sectors under the Chamber’s “New Horizons” programme. This initiative supports Dubai companies in tapping into high-potential world markets and strengthening ties with emerging economies.
AlShamsi concluded by affirming that the rising presence of Cambodian firms in Dubai epitomizes the shared advantages stemming from closer economic relations. He expressed hope for continued growth as more companies utilize Dubai’s strategic position and infrastructure to extend their global reach.
This trend further affirms Dubai's significance as a regional business hub while positioning Cambodia as a crucial partner for trade and investment. The increasing registrations at the Dubai Chamber underscore strong confidence in the city’s business environment and its capacity to facilitate international expansion.
