Abu Dhabi, UAE – December 12, 2025 – His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, along with his role as Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, attended a pivotal International Development Dialogue in Abu Dhabi.

This event gathered influential global figures, including policymakers, philanthropists, and experts in development, who engaged in thorough discussions regarding the rapidly shifting landscape of international development. Organized by the Office of Development Affairs at the Presidential Court, the dialogue aimed to be both reflective and forward-looking, addressing innovative approaches to global cooperation and sustainable practices.

Sheikh Theyab directly interacted with speakers and attendees, underscoring the necessity for collaborative solutions to overcome shared international challenges. Key topics discussed included the implications of changing geopolitical circumstances, evolving economic scenarios, and swift technological advancements affecting global development priorities.

Participants evaluated the impacts of an emerging multipolar world and the growing influence of new actors, with a special focus on South-to-South cooperation in addressing global issues. A vital aspect of the dialogue was the widening gap in development financing, which led to discussions about the urgent need for adaptable and resilient financing models. Experts emphasized utilizing blended capital strategies to align diverse stakeholders from the beginning, highlighting the vital role of philanthropy in mitigating risks for initial projects and encouraging ongoing investment from government and institutions.

Experts also directed attention toward Africa’s developmental path, advocating for its demographic strengths, capable leadership, and the immense potential of increased regional cooperation. The discussions highlighted the significance of inclusive governance and community-led endeavors as well as sustained investments in education, healthcare, and economic opportunities as foundational to lasting development.

Furthermore, the dialogue delved into how frontier technologies, such as artificial intelligence and digital public infrastructure, could bolster resilience and expedite development. Conversations raised the importance of responsible technology deployment, sound governance, and skill enhancement to fully harness technological benefits.

The conclusion of the event brought a shared commitment to the necessity of adaptive, trust-centric, and action-driven cooperation frameworks that can successfully navigate the increasingly intricate global landscape and promote sustainable development worldwide.
