Indonesia Urges Caution Over US Military Overflight Plan, Highlights Sovereignty Concerns

Indonesia has raised serious concerns over a proposal by the United States to allow its military aircraft broader access to Indonesian airspace. The issue has sparked debate over national sovereignty, regional security, and the country’s long-standing policy of maintaining balance in global relations.

According to reports, Indonesia’s foreign ministry sent an urgent and confidential message to its defence ministry, warning against moving too quickly on the proposal. The plan, if approved, would give the United States what is described as “blanket” overflight access across Indonesian territory.
