In the aftermath of the tragedy, Wing Commander Syal's remains were first transported to Sulur Air Force Station near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. A poignant tribute followed, attended by IAF staff, local officials, and dignitaries. Coimbatore District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar laid a wreath on behalf of the state, recognizing the pilot’s valor and dedication. The Indian Air Force personnel honored Wing Commander Syal, acknowledging his immense sacrifice.

Following the solemn ceremony at Sulur, Wing Commander Syal's body was transported back to his hometown of Patiyalkar in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh for his final rites. The community mourned his premature passing passionately. Residents remembered him not only as an exemplary officer but also as an athlete and a brave pilot who diverted the crashing aircraft away from the crowded area, averting further tragedy.

In his mid-thirties, Wing Commander Syal is survived by his father, mother, wife, and six-year-old daughter. His wife, also an officer in the Indian Air Force, met him during their first posting in Pathankot, and they married in 2014.
