Post by : Mina Rahman

Sheetal Devi, a world-renowned para archer, has etched her name into the annals of Indian sports history. Selected for India’s able-bodied junior team for the Asia Cup Stage 3 in Jeddah, she becomes the first para athlete to represent the nation in an able-bodied international event.

A Realized Ambition

On social media, Sheetal expressed her excitement:

"When my journey began, my aspiration was simple – to compete alongside able-bodied athletes and earn medals. Initially, it felt out of reach, but I persevered, learning from each challenge I encountered. Today, that dream is nearer than ever."

She went on to motivate others:

"Great dreams require time, effort, faith, and persistence."

Anderson Mahindra Celebrates Her Spirit

Industrialist Anand Mahindra extoled her resolve, stating:

"Sheetal, I have always believed you were ‘able-bodied.’ In truth, you are more endowed than the rest of us. Your spirit is unmatched. You make our nation proud."

This past year, Mahindra honored Sheetal with a brand-new Mahindra Scorpio-N as a gesture of respect for her extraordinary accomplishments.

A Pivotal Chapter in Indian Sports

Sheetal Devi’s inclusion transcends personal achievement; it signifies a monumental moment for para athletes in India. Her journey reflects that dedication, resilience, and belief can dismantle barriers and turn dreams into reality. Her success is bound to inspire numerous young aspirants to reach for the stars and defy limitations.
