GE Aerospace Unveils Major OWS Facility at Dubai South

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Dubai, UAE – On the inaugural day of the Dubai Airshow 2025, GE Aerospace has revealed plans for a substantial expansion in the Middle East through the establishment of a new On Wing Support (OWS) facility at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH) in Dubai South. This initiative underscores GE Aerospace’s strategic commitment to catering to rising engine service demands while gearing up for the impending launch of the GE9X engine.

The custom-engineered leased facility will span 120,000 square feet, a significant increase from the current 29,000-square-foot footprint. It is designed to function as a pivotal center for maintenance, field operations, technological advancements, and training, marking it as the first OWS location to provide specialized MRO training facilities for both in-house teams and clients.

The hub will be essential in servicing CFM LEAP engines, which are becoming increasingly integral to GE Aerospace’s global engine inventory. By harnessing advanced technologies and streamlined processes, the facility seeks to offer quicker turnaround times, enhanced lease pool management, and broadened field support for GE Aerospace, CFM International, and Engine Alliance engines.

The strategic location of Dubai South at the future Al Maktoum International Airport – poised to be the largest airport in the world – amplifies the import of this investment. With its robust connectivity across air, maritime, and ground logistics, the site situates GE Aerospace at the core of a thriving aviation environment.

Construction is expected to kick off in December 2025, with the facility projected to commence operations by the first quarter of 2027. This development not only bolsters GE Aerospace’s regional presence but also aligns with the UAE’s vision to emerge as a prominent global center for aviation innovation.
