The vibrant sands of Razeen, Abu Dhabi, are primed for action as the Razeen Mazayna camel competitions open on 15 November 2025, marking the second phase of the 19th Al Dhafra Festival. This week-long event blends excitement, tradition, and intense rivalries, showcasing the UAE’s profound camel heritage.
Hosted by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, the Razeen Mazayna is part of a grand festival that unfolds across Suweihan, Razeen, Madinat Zayed, culminating in the Al Dhafra Final. It features 355 rounds and hands out a staggering 3,370 awards worth more than AED88.7 million. This celebration highlights four significant camel categories: Majahim, Local Asayel, Asayel Crossbred, and Wadh, attracting owners from both the UAE and GCC regions.
This segment in Razeen will showcase 76 competitions across various age divisions: Mafarid, Haqayiq, Lagaya, Yedaa’, Thanaya, and Hool. Local Asayel camels will compete in 38 rounds, with Majahim participating in 32 and Asayel Crossbreds in 6, distributing a total of 730 prizes amounting to AED11.45 million. Renowned for their meticulous breeding standards, camels owned by both royals and tribal proprietors will dazzle audiences during the event.
The festival has a history of drawing significant crowds, skillfully merging competitive spirit with cultural richness. The first phase, Suweihan Mazayna, held from 27 October to 3 November, welcomed 2,402 camel owners from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, and Yemen. The main stage at Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Heritage Racetrack drew over 24,000 visitors, including camel aficionados, heritage supporters, and international tourists, illustrating the festival’s expanding global attraction.
As the Razeen Mazayna festival kicks off, anticipation fills the air. Owners prepare their camels with utmost care, enhancing their allure and flawless presentation, while onlookers eagerly anticipate displays of grace, beauty, and the unique charm of these majestic creatures. This festival promises an unforgettable celebration of heritage, community, and the timeless affection for camels that has enriched the UAE’s cultural landscape for generations.
