This summer, from May to August 2025, audiences will have many exciting movies and shows to enjoy. Whether you like thrilling action, fun comedy, scary horror, or touching family stories, there’s something for everyone. Some films will be shown in movie theaters, while others will be available on streaming platforms like Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, Prime Video, and Max.
Let’s take a look at what’s coming each month.
May Releases
Lilo & Stitch (May 23)
Disney brings back the 2002 animated classic as a live-action movie. It’s set in beautiful Hawaii and tells the story of two sisters who discover an alien creature. The movie focuses on family love and the importance of staying together. It celebrates Hawaiian culture and reminds us what “ohana” (family) truly means.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (May 23)
Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hunt in what might be his final mission. Expect lots of dangerous stunts, fast-paced action, and intense moments as the long-running spy series comes to a close.
Fountain of Youth (Apple TV+)
In this exciting adventure, Natalie Portman and John Krasinski play siblings searching for a magical fountain that is believed to make people young again. Their journey takes them across the world and is filled with challenges and mysteries.
Pee‑Wee As Himself (Max)
This is a special two-part documentary about the late actor Paul Reubens, best known for playing Pee‑Wee Herman. It features never-before-seen footage and interviews, giving fans a chance to know the man behind the character.
Jane Austen Wrecked My Life
A light and charming romantic comedy. It follows a bookseller in Paris who gets invited to a writers' retreat that focuses on the famous author Jane Austen. Along the way, love and laughter unfold.
Fear Street: Prom Queen (Netflix)
Set in 1988, this horror mystery is about prom candidates at a high school who start disappearing. Based on R.L. Stine’s popular series, it’s spooky and suspenseful, with a touch of teenage drama.
The Last Rodeo
This touching story follows an older cowboy who returns to the rodeo scene. He does it to earn money to help pay for his son’s medical treatment. It’s a film about love, sacrifice, and courage.
June Highlights
Ballerina (June 6)
A spin-off from the John Wick movies, this film stars Ana de Armas as a highly trained killer seeking revenge. It’s full of action and stylish fight scenes.
The Life of Chuck (June 6)
Based on a story by Stephen King, this movie is told in three parts and shows different moments in one man’s life. It stars Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill. It’s emotional, thoughtful, and unique.
The Ritual
A dark and intense thriller with Al Pacino and Dan Stevens. The story follows a church involved in mysterious events and an exorcism.
Dangerous Animals
A scary and shocking movie about a serial killer who feeds victims to sharks. It’s not for the faint-hearted and has a lot of suspense.
I Don’t Understand You
This is a dark comedy about a couple vacationing in Italy. As they explore, more and more people start to die, creating a strange and funny mystery.
Straw (Netflix)
Directed by Tyler Perry, this drama stars Taraji P. Henson as a single mother trying to make a better life for her family. It’s an emotional and inspiring story.
Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye
An anime movie full of magic, monsters, and exciting battles. Based on a famous manga, fans of animated adventure will enjoy this one.
Deep Cover (Prime Video)
A comedy where a teacher from an improv class is asked to help the police. She and her students end up in the middle of an undercover investigation. It’s full of surprises and laughs.
How to Train Your Dragon (June 13)
The animated favorite comes to life in a new live-action version. It tells the story of a young Viking boy and his dragon friend. The original director returns for this heartfelt tale.
Materialists
A modern love story set in New York. It follows a matchmaker and her wealthy clients. The film stars Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal. It’s full of romance, drama, and modern-day challenges.
Echo Valley (Apple TV+)
Sydney Sweeney plays a woman who shows up at her mother’s house, covered in someone else’s blood. The thriller unfolds with secrets, danger, and family drama.
Other June releases include a western film with Pierce Brosnan and Samuel L. Jackson, and a documentary about Jacinda Ardern, the former Prime Minister of New Zealand.

Witchboard

Lurker (Aug 22)
A psychological thriller that follows a woman caught up in internet fame and danger. It’s written by one of the creators of The Bear.
Honey Don’t!
A dark comedy about a private investigator in a small town where mysterious deaths keep happening.
Eden
Directed by Ron Howard, this survival story is set in the Galapagos Islands after World War I. It’s about nature, danger, and human strength.
Relay
A business thriller starring Riz Ahmed, full of fast-paced drama and twists.
Grand Prix of Europe
An animated movie about racing cars, perfect for kids who love speed and fun.
The Thursday Murder Club (Aug 28)
A group of elderly friends team up to solve cold cases. With Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, it’s a mix of mystery and humor.
