Enhanced Security Measures in Delhi for Putin's India Visit

Post by : Raina Nasser

Ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s two-day stay starting Thursday evening, New Delhi is on high alert with its most stringent security measures to date. The city has implemented a comprehensive security framework, deploying multiple specialized units dedicated to safeguarding the Russian leader during his visit.

Due to stringent security protocols, officials have not revealed the specific location of Putin’s accommodations. Top police officials confirmed that every aspect of the Russian President’s movements, from his arrival to departure, will be meticulously monitored by several coordinating agencies. Ongoing communication is paramount, and all units have been briefed to remain vigilant.

Over 5,000 police officers have been assigned throughout Delhi to secure important routes, regulate traffic, and oversee areas related to Putin’s schedule. Senior officers from the Delhi Police are in charge of route security, area cleaning, and meticulous movement planning to prevent any oversights. Advanced anti-drone technology and secure barriers are also being set up along the approved pathways.

Officials have secured all routes anticipated to be utilized for VVIP transit in advance. Traffic advisories will be issued regularly to reduce the impact on the public. The strategy includes SWAT squads, anti-terror personnel, snipers, and rapid response teams positioned at critical points.

Delhi Police, central intelligence entities, and Putin’s security team have collaborated to create a robust security layer. High-definition CCTV, technical observation units, and live monitoring systems are operational in various zones to identify any suspicious activities.

Authorities have warned that certain regions may experience temporary traffic restrictions and limits on pedestrian movement during the visit. However, they have assured that notifications will be given in advance to minimize significant disruptions across the city.

Putin’s trip to India stands as one of the most closely observed diplomatic engagements this year, with enhanced security measures underscoring the importance of the India-Russia relationship.
