Emirates is embarking on a transformative journey to elevate the travel experience aboard its A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft, with 60 A380s and 51 777s earmarked for a significant cabin retrofit beginning in August 2026. This initiative will introduce state-of-the-art seating options, upgraded Starlink Wi-Fi, and an immersive next-generation entertainment system.
Revolutionized Business Class
Travelers in Business Class can look forward to an enhanced level of comfort and privacy, featuring seats inspired by the A350 S Lounge's design. Each seat will come equipped with wireless charging capabilities, customizable lighting, in-seat mini-bars, and multiple charging ports. An upgraded 4K ice entertainment system will ensure long-haul flights are more enjoyable.
Improvements in Premium Economy and Economy Classes
In Premium Economy, passengers will enjoy Recaro’s cutting-edge mechanical recline seats, complete with integrated leg rests, adjustable headrests, and side cocktail tables, blending luxury with value. Economy Class will feature the lightweight Safran Z400 seats designed for extended comfort, boasting adjustable eight-way headrests and useful tech upgrades.
Innovative Entertainment and Connectivity Options
The retrofit will also incorporate Panasonic’s Astrova in-flight entertainment system, providing 4K OLED HDR10+ displays along with Spatial Audio for an exceptional auditory experience. This system will work seamlessly with Emirates’ Skywards program to offer personalized content recommendations. Additionally, USB-C charging will keep devices fully powered throughout the flight, while Starlink Wi-Fi will be rolled out across the fleet.
Expansive Fleet Modernization
Since 2021, Emirates has been steadily expanding its retrofit program, planning to refurbish 219 aircraft in total. Each A380 refurbishment will take about 22 days, while a 777 will require approximately 18 days, with two planes re-entering service monthly. This well-coordinated initiative aims to provide travelers with a consistent and modern flying experience across the airline’s global routes.
