Empower Unveils Major Cooling Facility in Deira

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Dubai is advancing its sustainable growth with the launch of Empower’s district cooling facility at Deira Waterfront. This operational plant boasts a robust cooling capacity of 39,000 refrigeration tons, catering to over 46 buildings located in the vibrant Deira Waterfront region.

Designed to meet modern green-building standards, the facility integrates well with the surrounding architecture. Its aesthetic contribution underscores Dubai’s commitment to sustainable urban planning and energy efficiency.

This initiative forms part of Empower’s extensive plan to address the growing demand for district-cooling solutions across Dubai. The company now commands over 80% of the district-cooling market in the emirate, solidifying its status as the region's leading provider.

The Deira Waterfront area, known as one of Dubai’s premier integrated urban developments, combines residential, commercial, and tourist facilities. The new plant ensures effective, energy-efficient cooling for this critical zone, aligning with the city’s Net-Zero Carbon Emissions objectives for 2050.

Empower's relationship with Deira Waterfront started in 2018 when cooling services were supplied through a temporary setup. Following successful operations, a permanent facility was initiated in 2024 to accommodate the area’s growing requirements. The fully operational plant signifies a landmark achievement in Dubai’s endeavor for sustainable, intelligent urban infrastructure.

Through the expansion of its cutting-edge cooling facilities, Empower is significantly contributing to lowering carbon emissions and boosting energy efficiency, playing a pivotal role in Dubai’s vision for a progressive, environmentally mindful urban future.
