Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Gulf Businesswomen Lead the Charge

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

A strong representation of 30 businesswomen from the UAE, organized by the Emirates Businesswomen Council (EBWC), captivated attendees at the 7th GCC Businesswomen Forum in Qatar on November 12–13. Their presence underscored the pivotal role women are playing in entrepreneurship and sustainable investment throughout the region.

The forum, themed “Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Investment,” united women leaders from across the Gulf for discussions on idea exchange, opportunities, and the enhancement of economic cooperation. Under the auspices of the Federation of GCC Chambers and Qatar Chamber, and with the support of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the event provided a vital platform for promoting women-led initiatives within emerging sectors.

During the sessions, the UAE delegation articulated a progressive vision aimed at empowering Gulf women in modern economic landscapes, spotlighting digital economy initiatives, renewable energy developments, and technology-centric entrepreneurship. This involvement reflects the UAE's strategic approach towards fostering female leadership and broadening international involvement for Emirati women in various economic fields.

Ayesha Mohammed Almulla, Chairperson of EBWC, highlighted the necessity of fostering collaboration for a resilient and diverse Gulf economy. “It's essential to enhance partnerships among GCC businesswomen and to invest in innovative sectors to ensure that women play a pivotal role in today's economy,” she stated.

The forum also encompassed comprehensive discussions about sustainable finance, entrepreneurial innovation, and knowledge exchange, paving the way for fresh joint investment opportunities and regional synergy. Through efforts like these, Gulf women are poised to make meaningful contributions to economic progress, reinforcing the UAE's dedication to gender-inclusive growth in local, regional, and global contexts.
