Dubai International Marine Sports Club has officially opened registration for the upcoming second round of the local rowing boats competition, set to unfold on Saturday at the Dubai Healthcare City Promenade in the Al Jaddaf locality. This initiative is part of the club's commitment to elevating traditional marine sports and fostering increased community involvement.
The organizing team affirmed that this race will consist of two heats for the local rowing boats division, as well as two heats for the open category, welcoming participants from both government bodies and private organizations. Depending on registration numbers, additional heats may be introduced. The inaugural round saw impressive participation with 42 boats, including 26 in the local category, indicating a rising interest in rowing.
To enhance fairness and streamline operations, the committee is implementing several new regulations for the second round. All boats must now visibly display load numbers on their rear sides, and a technical inspection will be mandatory before the race to ensure compliance with safety and performance criteria. A lottery will also decide starting positions, guaranteeing transparency and fairness for all participants.
According to Mohammed Al Merri, Director of the Sports Affairs Department, this second round marks a significant development, especially considering the growing numbers since the first race. He emphasized that these new measures reflect Dubai's dedication to marine sports, high organizational standards, and a competitive yet equitable atmosphere for all rowing teams.
