Dubai fortifies its status as a premier global business center as a multitude of US companies launch their regional bases within the emirate’s integrated economic zones. Dr. Juma Al Matrooshi, Assistant Executive Chairman of Investments and Partnerships at the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), recently announced a significant surge of American businesses across vital sectors.
Currently, over 112 US firms are registered under DIEZ, accounting for approximately 3.4% of its total enterprises. These companies represent a diverse range of sectors including aviation, logistics, specialized consulting, technology, and innovative industries. Notable names such as Boeing, FedEx, Abbott, DHL, and Coca-Cola have selected DIEZ’s economic zones—Dubai Airport Free Zone, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and Dubai CommerCity—as their regional headquarters.
Dr. Al Matrooshi emphasized the authority’s continuous efforts to elevate services for businesses, investors, and entrepreneurs. By optimizing operations and providing a spectrum of economic opportunities, DIEZ facilitates a smoother business experience, bolstering Dubai’s positioning in the global market. Strengthening integration among free zones remains a strategic goal, aimed at creating a unified ecosystem that benefits all industries.
Economic and free zones are pivotal to Dubai’s non-oil economy, contributing almost 67% of the emirate’s overall foreign direct investment—equivalent to AED 298 billion in 2023, based on estimates from Dubai Data and Statistics. This highlights the essential role of free zones in promoting sustainable growth, innovation, and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies.
Dr. Al Matrooshi noted that DIEZ consistently rolls out new initiatives and programs aimed at providing investment incentives, attracting valuable partnerships, and enhancing the overall business environment. US companies are crucial to the free zones’ ecosystem, showcasing Dubai’s capability to attract global investments despite economic uncertainties worldwide.
