Dubai to Launch 200 Fast EV Charging Stations by 2025. Dubai is taking another bold step toward becoming a cleaner and greener city. Parkin Company PJSC, the largest provider of public parking facilities in Dubai, has signed a 10-year partnership with Charge & Go, a subsidiary of Etisalat Services Holding. Together, they will build and manage 200 ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the city.

The project is set to start in October 2025 and will transform the way electric cars are charged in the emirate. Unlike traditional charging stations that take hours, these new stations will use direct current (DC) technology which can reduce charging times to less than 30 minutes. This initiative is not just about speed; it is also about building the right infrastructure to support Dubai’s long-term green mobility and sustainable growth plans.

Why This Project Matters

Dubai has more than 40,000 electric vehicles on its roads, and that number is growing every year. As more residents and businesses shift toward environmentally friendly transportation, the demand for charging points is also increasing. Without enough charging stations, EV owners face delays, long queues, and difficulties in daily travel.

By building 200 new stations in high-demand areas—such as residential communities, shopping centres, and leisure destinations—the city will make electric driving more practical and attractive. This will encourage even more people to switch from petrol cars to electric ones, reducing pollution and helping Dubai meet its 2040 urban master plan goals.

Phase One of the Project

The plan will be rolled out in stages. Phase One will see the installation of 20 ultra-fast charging stations in some of Dubai’s busiest areas. These will be places where people often park, such as near malls, public attractions, and residential zones.

Over the following 12 months, the program will expand to reach the full target of 200 charging points covering both public and private spaces.

This gradual expansion will allow authorities to manage demand, monitor usage, and ensure smooth operations before the full rollout is complete.

How Fast Charging Works

Traditional charging stations mostly use alternating current (AC) systems, which are slower. Depending on the vehicle and charger, they can take several hours to fully charge a battery.

The new network will rely on direct current (DC) ultra-fast chargers which deliver power directly into the car battery at a much higher rate. This reduces charging time from hours to less than 30 minutes. For EV owners, this makes charging as convenient as refuelling a petrol car, turning it into a quick stop rather than a long wait.

Alongside speed, Parkin and charge &go promise to maintain high service standards making the customer experience smooth and reliable.

Easy Access Through Technology

Parkin plans to integrate the charging service into its existing mobile application. Drivers will be able to:

  • Reserve a charging slot in advance

  • Track real-time charging status

  • Make secure in-app payments

This will prevent unnecessary waiting and allow drivers to plan their journeys more effectively.

Voices Behind the Project

Eng. Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali CEO of Parkin, expressed that this 10-year partnership is a commitment to building a cleaner, technology-driven future. He said that Parkin and e& share the same goal of using advanced services to meet the needs of Dubai’s growing, tech-savvy population. According to him, expanding EV infrastructure is vital to speeding up the adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles in the city.

Muammar Al Rukhaimi CEO of Etisalat Services Holding, emphasised that Dubai is setting an example for the world on how cities can embrace sustainability. He described the rollout as a decisive step forward” that makes green mobility easy and accessible while ensuring faster and more reliable charging for everyone.

Parkin’s Role in Dubai

Parkin currently operates around 212,000 paid parking spaces across Dubai. As the city’s main parking operator, Parkin is perfectly placed to combine parking and charging facilities. This means drivers will be able to park and charge at the same time, saving time and ensuring convenience.

The agreement between Parkin and charge\&go builds on an earlier Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in October 2024 at the GITEX exhibition, one of the world’s largest technology and startup events.

Preventing Misuse of Charging Bays

A common problem in cities is when cars block charging bays without actually charging, making it difficult for EV drivers to access them. To address this, the new network will follow a strict park and charge rule. Cars will only be allowed to occupy a charging bay while actively charging. Once charging is finished, vehicles must vacate the space. This policy will help prevent misuse, ensure fair access, and keep the system efficient.

Part of a Bigger Green Vision

Dubai has set clear goals to reduce pollution, encourage clean energy, and promote sustainable mobility. Expanding the EV charging network is an essential part of these plans.

The city’s 2040 Urban Master Plan includes a strong focus on sustainability, green spaces, and eco-friendly transport. By investing in EV infrastructure, Dubai is not only supporting its residents but also positioning itself as a global leader in future mobility solutions.

What This Means for Residents

For drivers, this project means shorter waiting times, more charging points nearby, and a seamless digital experience for managing charging sessions. For the environment, it means fewer petrol cars on the road and lower emissions. For the economy, it helps attract investments in clean technology and shows that Dubai is serious about preparing for the future.

Over time, the availability of reliable fast charging will make electric cars the first choice for many people, not just an option for the environmentally conscious. Families, businesses, and even delivery services will all benefit from easier access to charging.

The new partnership between Parkin and charge\&go is more than just a business deal—it is a big leap toward transforming Dubai into a city ready for the future of mobility. By building 200 ultra-fast EV charging stations, the project addresses today’s needs while preparing for tomorrow’s growth.

With faster charging, advanced digital services, and strict rules to prevent misuse, Dubai is creating a network that supports drivers, reduces pollution, and keeps pace with global sustainability trends.

As EV numbers continue to grow, this initiative shows how Dubai is combining technology, infrastructure, and vision to lead the way in green transportation.
