RTA Enhances Dubai's Road Network with 13 km Project

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has announced the successful completion of a significant infrastructure enhancement, adding 13 kilometers of new roads across 18 residential neighborhoods in the emirate. This initiative reflects RTA's commitment to facilitating urban expansion and catering to the needs of its growing population.

In addition to road construction, the project integrates essential traffic improvements, including roadside parking, pedestrian walkways, and advanced street lighting. These enhancements aim to elevate mobility standards, safety, and overall quality of life for the area's residents.

According to Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency, the newly constructed roadways have vastly improved connectivity, opening up routes that were previously unpaved and enhancing vehicle access to residential zones.

He emphasized that these upgrades have led to improved traffic flow, reducing travel times by as much as 40 percent in select areas, delivering a safer and more efficient driving experience.

The expansion covers various neighborhoods including Al Khawaneej 1, Al Barsha South 1, Nad Shamma, Jumeirah 1, Za'abeel 1, Al Rashidiya, Muhaisnah 1, Al Barsha 1, Al Hudaiba, Al Quoz 1 and 3, Al Satwa, Al Twar 1, Mirdif, Umm Ramool, Umm Suqeim 1, and Al Mizhar 1 and 2.

The RTA highlighted that these initiatives are in line with its vision of becoming a global frontrunner in seamless and sustainable mobility. The authority continues to implement progressive traffic solutions and infrastructure improvements to enhance road network efficacy and assure a high-standard transport experience throughout Dubai.
