Dubai Ports Report AED708 Billion, Redefining Global Trade

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Dubai is solidifying its position as a major player in global commerce, as the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) unveils an impressive AED708 billion in commercial activities for 2024. This milestone not only signifies economic progression but also highlights Dubai's influential role in global maritime trade.

Originating in 1886 with the Furda Department on Dubai Creek, the ports have transformed into one of the world’s leading maritime hubs. Currently, PCFC oversees operations in over 146 ports across 76 nations, supporting more than 155,000 jobs, and serves as a fundamental pillar in Dubai's financial and strategic development.

Fueling Dubai’s Economic Growth

PCFC is vital to the city's economy, managing the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), which stands as the world’s largest free zone with over 12,000 businesses and contributing significantly to employment. Planned enhancements for JAFZA are designed to improve infrastructure, attract foreign investment, and reshape Dubai's economic framework for the future.

“Our biggest competition is with ourselves; each figure sets a new standard for excellence,” remarked PCFC's leadership, stressing ongoing innovation and results-focused growth.

Innovations and Global Outreach

With the launch of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 in 2025, PCFC has initiated several transformative projects, including the groundbreaking Dubai Ports Code that establishes international technical norms for ports and marinas. New digital advancements like Port Eye, utilizing AI and drones for surveillance, and Marsa, which optimizes marina functions, are also noteworthy.

An increase in international yacht visits—up by 149% from the previous year—illustrates Dubai's rising status as a premier luxury marine hub, backed by cutting-edge infrastructure, exceptional services, and strong global connections.

Pioneering Maritime Future

With key ports such as Jebel Ali, Mina Rashid, and Al Hamriya, PCFC is steadfast in its aim to establish Dubai as the fastest-growing, safest, and best-connected maritime hub in the world. The synergy of strategic expansion, technological progress, and a business-friendly environment positions Dubai as a central hub for trade, investment, and maritime excellence.
