A group of foreign doctors who recently worked in Gaza have shared painful stories about what they saw. They say that many children were not killed by bombs or crossfire, but by single, direct shots to the head or chest. This makes them believe that Israel is deliberately targeting children.
These doctors, who came from different countries to volunteer in Gaza, reported treating over 100 children shot in the head or chest. Many of these children died, while others were left with lifelong injuries.
One American doctor, Mimi Syed, said she treated 18 children with bullet wounds to their heads or chests. “This is not crossfire. These are war crimes,” she said.
A trauma surgeon from California, Feroze Sidhwa, first thought these cases were just bad luck. But when he saw multiple boys in one hospital with the same types of injuries, he realised this was widespread and not an accident. “This is targeted fire. Someone is pulling a trigger on a child,” he explained.
Forensic experts who studied X-rays said the injuries matched sniper or drone fire from a distance, not random shrapnel from explosions. A retired Dutch army commander, Mart de Kruif, added that the huge number of cases made it impossible to believe these were just accidents. “This is not collateral damage. It is intentional,” he said.
The Israeli army denies targeting children. However, many reports and investigations point to the opposite.
A report published in December called “Generation Wiped Out: Gaza’s Children in the Crosshairs of Genocide” stated that Israel is committing genocide against children in Gaza. The report explained that children are being killed deliberately, harmed physically and mentally, and forced into living conditions that destroy their future.
Raji Sourani, director of the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, said Israel has made children the main victims. He explained that constant attacks on homes and shelters are killing children more than anyone else.
Since the war began on October 7, 2023, Gaza’s Ministry of Health reports that nearly 20,000 children have been killed by Israeli strikes.
The United Nations estimates that 28 children are being killed every single day in Gaza because of attacks and because food and medicine are not reaching them.
At least 21,000 children have been left disabled during this war, according to the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This means thousands will live with permanent injuries, scars, and trauma.
Parents in Gaza describe their pain as endless. Every day, they search through rubble or hospital halls to see if their children survived. Many families have lost not one, but several children. Some children who survive are left without parents, wandering alone in overcrowded shelters.
Doctors say that even the children who live will carry scars forever — not just on their bodies, but in their hearts and minds. Constant bombings, the loss of family members, hunger, and the fear of being shot again will stay with them for life.
Across the world, human rights groups, doctors, and activists are calling this a crime against humanity. They demand investigations and punishment for those responsible.
The UN has repeatedly warned that the situation is one of the worst humanitarian crises in modern history. With famine spreading in Gaza, children are not only being killed by bullets but also dying of hunger and lack of medical care.
Doctors who went to Gaza did not just treat patients; they returned as witnesses. Their stories are heartbreaking but also very important because they show the world what is happening. Children are supposed to be protected during wars, but in Gaza, they have become the main victims.
The testimonies of these foreign doctors raise serious questions: why are children being shot in the head and chest? Why are so many being killed every single day? And why is the world not stopping it?
Until these questions are answered, the suffering of Gaza’s children will remain one of the darkest chapters in history.
