Confusion and misleading reports have emerged regarding the health of Bollywood superstar Dharmendra. The beloved actor was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on November 10, which has led to speculation about his condition, including alarming claims of him being on ventilator support. Disturbingly, social media has been rife with fake news suggesting that Dharmendra has passed away.
In response to these unfounded claims, his wife, renowned actress Hema Malini, took to Twitter to voice her anger. She stated, “What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is being extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy.” Her poignant statement highlights the need for compassion and consideration during such delicate periods.
As fans await more encouraging news about Dharmendra's health, it's essential to recall the close-knit relationships he has fostered within the industry, particularly with Salman Khan.
The Special Connection: Dharmendra and Salman Khan
Among his many admirers in the film fraternity, Salman Khan enjoys a unique position in Dharmendra’s life. Their relationship, based on longstanding respect and warmth, has been a common topic for the veteran actor. In a memorable 2015 interview, Dharmendra expressed that if a biopic about him were to be made, he would wish for Salman to portray him, stating, “I think he has a lot of characteristics which are very similar to mine. I think he will be able to portray me onscreen perfectly.”
Reflecting on their history, during the trailer launch of his film Yamla Pagla Deewana in 2011, Dharmendra revealed his admiration for Salman: “Today, if I call anyone from the industry, everyone will be there because of my family's goodwill. Salman himself is a very good human being. I love him, he’s a wonderful person. He’s genuine.” Recalling their first encounter, Dharmendra shared a heartfelt memory: “Once I was shooting a film near a lake, and that was the first time I saw Salman. He was quite shy then—and even today, he is very shy. While shooting, the camera dropped into the lake, and he dived in to retrieve it. At that time, I thought, ‘He’s quite courageous too.’ He is an emotional man. If you aren’t a good person, you are nothing.”
Salman Khan’s Swift Support for Dharmendra
In light of Dharmendra's hospitalization, Salman Khan was among the first to make an appearance at the hospital, showcasing the deep bond and respect he has for the legendary figure of Bollywood. As the nation and fans continue to send their prayers for Dharam Paaji's recovery, this moment underscores the enduring friendships and connections that persist among Bollywood's beloved icons.
