The 89-year-old Bollywood legend Dharmendra is reportedly on the mend and responding positively to treatment, as shared by his family. This follows a wave of distressing rumors about his health that circulated on social media, sparking concern among fans and the film industry.
On Tuesday, a message from Dharmendra's son, actor Sunny Deol, reassured the public that the veteran star is “recovering and responding to treatment.” The communication, aimed at quelling misinformation, asked everyone to keep Dharmendra in their prayers for a swift recovery and long life. This was the third update from the family, addressing the rampant speculation surrounding the actor.
Earlier, his daughter, Esha Deol, shared on Instagram that her father is “stable and recovering,” while his second wife, Hema Malini, publicly condemned the unfounded health reports. On her social media, she reiterated that Dharmendra is “responding to treatment and recovering,” labeling the circulating rumors as “false news.”
Seeking privacy, the family has continually asked the public to refrain from sharing unverified details about Dharmendra’s condition. On Monday night, Sunny Deol requested that fans and media not engage in gossip, asserting that further updates would be provided only when necessary. He emphasized the need for privacy and support for the actor's recovery.
Receiving care at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai since late October, the news of Dharmendra's hospitalization first emerged on October 31. Famously known for his iconic performances in films like Sholay and Satyakam, Dharmendra is set to celebrate his 90th birthday on December 8.
On Tuesday, both Sunny Deol and Hema Malini visited their father at the hospital. The night prior, notable figures in the film industry, including Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, paid visits to send their support and well wishes.
Despite this health scare, fans look forward to seeing Dharmendra in the upcoming film Ikkis, scheduled for release on December 25, proving that his legacy will continue to inspire cinema enthusiasts.
