Fujairah Ruler Commemorates Fallen Heroes in Abu Dhabi

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

On Sunday, the UAE observed Commemoration Day with a respectful gathering at Wahat Al Karama in Abu Dhabi, where His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah, paid tribute to the nation's martyrs. H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes Affairs, also attended the ceremony.

Sheikh Hamad placed a wreath at the memorial, taking a moment of silence to honor the bravery, dedication, and sacrifice of those who laid down their lives for the UAE. He also awarded the Martyr’s Medal to four families, acknowledging their deep loss and honoring the enduring legacy of their loved ones.

The ceremony underscored the nation’s reverence for its heroes, highlighted by fighter jets performing a symbolic aerial tribute above Wahat Al Karama, forming the shape of the Unknown Soldier to commemorate the sacrifices made for national security and stability.

Senior leaders from across the UAE attended, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah; Lt General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; and other prominent members of the Al Nahyan and Al Sharqi families.

Dignitaries, military officials, accredited diplomats, ministers, and families of martyrs also participated, representing a unified expression of gratitude and pride within the country.

Commemoration Day remains a vital reminder of the UAE’s enduring appreciation for its heroes—those who sacrificed everything for the nation’s future.
