American golfer Chase Koepka is preparing to re-enter the LIV Golf League, with hopes of reclaiming his position through the Promotions event slated for January. The 31-year-old has fully recovered from previous injuries, including a significant shoulder surgery, and is enthusiastic about the opportunity to compete again.
Koepka is particularly thrilled about his return to Florida, stating, “The Promotions event being in Florida is special for me. I haven’t been able to participate for the last two years due to injuries, so this is a great chance. If I play well, everything will follow suit.”
After his relegation from the LIV Golf League in 2023, Koepka underwent a rigorous rehabilitation process that kept him off the competitive scene until January 2024. His journey back has been challenging, and while he has made progress, competing at a high level has proved to be a struggle.
Currently positioned 44th in the International Series Order of Merit, Koepka is working hard to improve his consistency and make the leap back into the top rankings. Following a tied 43rd finish at the Singapore Open, he acknowledged, “My performances have been a bit inconsistent. I play solid weeks but haven’t had a solid chance to win yet. That’s what I need to focus on next.”
Koepka recognizes the challenges on his path and is focused on solidifying his confidence before the critical Promotions event in early 2025. “I’m not playing poorly, just not well enough to be a contender on Sundays,” he added, emphasizing the need to restore his rhythm.
The upcoming LIV Golf Promotions event will see several notable names in attendance, including Anthony Kim, a former star also seeking a comeback. The competition for limited spots in the LIV Golf League heightens the stakes for both players, making this Florida tournament a crucial proving ground.
Like Koepka, 40-year-old Anthony Kim is charting his path back to professional golf. After a long hiatus of 12 years due to addiction and mental health struggles, Kim returned to competition in 2023 and is now determined to reclaim his place in golf. Despite his relegation in August, he looks towards the Promotions event as critical to his comeback.
Kim shared insights about balancing his golf career with family. “Though I am eager to compete, family plays a vital role in my journey back to golf,” he noted. He plans to participate in select events next year, particularly focusing on the Asian Tour’s International Series.
Despite the obstacles he has faced, Kim remains committed to his professional golf aspirations. “I look forward to playing for a few more years. I can’t predict how long I will play, but I’m dedicated to this path,” he said. He emphasized effort and consistency, noting that “if I work hard, the results will follow.”
For both Chase Koepka and Anthony Kim, the year 2025 is poised to be pivotal in their careers. They aim to re-establish themselves among golf's elite after significant hiatuses. The LIV Golf Promotions event in Florida will serve as a crucial test of their determination and skills, representing their will to overcome past difficulties and return even stronger.
