In California, federal agents have apprehended four individuals linked to the far-left Turtle Island Liberation Front while they were conspiring a bomb attack for New Year’s Eve.
US Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that the Justice Department along with the FBI thwarted a “significant and terrifying terrorist scheme.” The detainees comprise 30-year-old Audrey Illeene Carroll, 32-year-old Zachary Aaron Page, 24-year-old Dante Gaffield, and 41-year-old Tina Lai, all charged with conspiracy and unlawful possession of a destructive device.
Surveillance footage captured the suspects operating in the Mojave Desert near Los Angeles. Their plan involved the synchronized planting of bombs at logistics hubs similar to Amazon's on New Year’s Eve, hoping to mask the detonations within the festive fireworks.
The group claims to fight for the “liberation of all colonized peoples” and has previously protested against ICE detentions and deportations.
Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell noted that despite varying views on immigration policies, federal and local officials coordinate efforts to ensure community safety.
