Dubai, UAE — A select group of Emirati media students has just returned from an international field trip, enhancing their skills through the Emirati Media Talent Pledge, spearheaded by the Dubai Media Council (DMC) in partnership with Dubai Chambers and the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT).
This program aims to merge academic insights with real-world experience, immersing students in live newsroom settings during significant economic events abroad. This year's expedition took them to Tbilisi and Yerevan, where Dubai Chambers organized the 'Doing Business with Georgia' and 'Doing Business with Armenia' Forums in early October.
Throughout their visit, students contributed to content creation, managed on-site media logistics, and captured business engagements that emphasized Dubai's growing trade relationships with international markets. They collaborated with communication teams to orchestrate press activities, document pivotal meetings, and prepare multilingual press materials for a global audience.
Officials involved in this initiative highlighted its role in supporting Dubai’s overarching goal of nurturing a proficient national media workforce adept at representing the Emirate on the international stage. The program further reflects Dubai’s ongoing quest to enhance its economic outreach and affirm its stature as a center for global collaboration.
Faculty from HCT remarked that this collaboration enabled students to implement their storytelling, production, and communication skills in dynamic real-world contexts—perfectly embodying the institution's applied learning philosophy. Students expressed that this exposure allowed them to grasp how media teams capture the narratives of major business missions and how this coverage bolsters Dubai’s international visibility.
Initiated last year under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum during the Arab Media Forum, the Emirati Media Talent Pledge continues to provide training, mentorship, and industry access to emerging Emirati talents through alliances with leading media organizations.
This latest mission marks a significant advancement towards equipping future professionals capable of supporting the UAE’s expanding economic diplomacy and enriching the country’s vibrant media landscape.
