Alert Issued on International Crime Gangs Targeting Canadian Residences

Post by : Mina Rahman

Authorities are sounding the alarm regarding international theft syndicates active across Canada. Identified as South American Theft Groups (SATGs), these organizations legally enter the country for short spells to execute coordinated home and retail break-ins before departing.

Investigations indicate that SATG operations have occurred in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, and Alberta. Recent law enforcement actions in Ottawa, the Greater Toronto Area, Montreal, Vancouver, and Calgary reveal activities characteristic of organized, high-value theft.

These groups mainly focus on valuable and easily transportable items, such as jewelry, luxury watches, cash, designer goods, and small safes. Stolen items are often swiftly resold or exported, complicating recovery efforts.

Authorities warn that homes adjacent to parks, trails, or natural reserves are particularly vulnerable, providing easy access points that lessen the risk of detection. Residents are advised to secure all entry points, activate security systems, install outdoor motion-sensor lights, utilize doorbell or surveillance cameras, and have a reliable neighbor monitor their property during absences.

Officials state they are actively tracking these criminal groups and working collaboratively with agencies across various regions to thwart further incidents. Ongoing efforts aim to trace crime patterns, disrupt operations, and ensure resident safety.
