Ashgabat is gearing up for an exciting cultural weekend as Turkmenistan commemorates Constitution Day and State Flag Day with a diverse array of artistic performances, exhibitions, and events throughout the city. Museums, theaters, and cultural organizations are launching special programs to honor this significant national occasion.
In the lead-up to the festivities, scientific conferences and thematic exhibitions are being held across Ashgabat. These initiatives aim to celebrate the nation’s identity, cultural heritage, and patriotic spirit while uniting artists, students, scholars, and residents from various regions.
The capital's prominent theaters will play a central role in the celebrations, featuring a selection of special performances and musical presentations. The Main Academic Drama Theatre, named after S. Turkmenbashi the Great, will showcase several plays including “Çynymy aýtsam,” “Giýewleriň bäsleşigi,” and “Gelin gelýä,” all slated for evening shows.
Additionally, the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theatre will contribute to the celebrations with the performance titled “Super gaýyn ene” and a special concert named “Baýdagyň belentdir dünýäň öňünde,” celebrating the significance of the national flag through music and cultural expressions.
At the Alp Arslan National Drama Theatre, audiences can expect to enjoy productions such as “Sabyr Ataýewa” and “Yşk mekany Hindistan.” Meanwhile, the Mollanepes Student Theatre will present “Arşın mal alan” and “Saňa ýalan maňa çyn,” providing young talents with a platform to shine during the national festivities.
The Pushkin State Russian Drama Theatre has prepared an eclectic program for both children and adults. Family-oriented productions such as “Thumbelina” and “The Kidnapping of Cheburashka” will be showcased alongside evening shows including “Chekhov’s Vaudevilles” and “Family Secret.”
Families are also in for a treat at the Turkmen State Puppet Theatre, where productions like “Baky rowaýatlar,” “Jüýteniň toýy,” “Bir towşanjyk bar ekeni,” and “Aladdin” will captivate audiences throughout the weekend.
Officials indicate that the expansive range of cultural offerings underscores Turkmenistan’s dedication to upholding national traditions while fostering artistic innovation and community engagement in cultural endeavors. The events are projected to draw both local residents and international guests who are visiting Ashgabat.
