On April 25 and May 6, 2026, several deadly terrorist attacks occurred in Mali, prompting a strong condemnation from the United Nations Security Council.
In a statement released on Friday, members labeled the attacks “heinous and cowardly,” offering heartfelt sympathy to the victims and their families.
The Security Council emphasized the necessity of holding accountable all parties involved, including attackers, planners, financiers, and supporters of terrorism. They called for immediate justice for those responsible.
Furthermore, the Council reiterated that terrorism poses a significant threat to international peace and security and urged countries worldwide to enhance their collaborative efforts in combating terrorism in line with international laws.
This statement reflects the rising international alarm over the security landscape in Mali, where ongoing terrorist activities have destabilized both civilian life and regional security.
