Abu Dhabi and ARIDGE Collaborate on Innovative Air Mobility Project

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Abu Dhabi is making strides in the transportation sector through a groundbreaking partnership with ARIDGE, Asia's leading flying car firm previously known as XPENG AEROHT. This collaboration is set to expedite the testing, certification, and eventual rollout of advanced air mobility technologies in the UAE’s capital.

As part of this strategic initiative, ARIDGE will establish a presence in Abu Dhabi to develop and evaluate integrated road-air mobility solutions, benefitting from the emirate's robust regulatory framework and innovation environment. This will enable the company to utilize dedicated testing corridors, examine local market opportunities, and bolster Abu Dhabi's rapidly expanding Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industries (SAVI) cluster.

The SAVI initiative aims to position Abu Dhabi as a premier global center for smart and autonomous mobility, with expectations to contribute AED 44 billion to the economy and create up to 40,000 high-value jobs by 2045.

The partnership will focus on four pivotal areas:

  • Regulatory acceleration: Collaborating with UAE aviation authorities to establish certification and safety protocols for flying cars.

  • Use case development: Testing practical applications, including tourism, urban transportation, emergency services, and last-mile logistics.

  • Market deployment: Creating pathways from prototypes to fully operational services, encompassing infrastructure planning.

  • Ecosystem growth: Attracting new investments and technology partners to enhance Abu Dhabi’s aerial mobility framework.

This initiative underscores Abu Dhabi's commitment to pioneering smart, sustainable transportation, making the dream of flying vehicles a practical aspect of urban transportation.
