Abu Dhabi has embarked on an extensive inspection initiative, targeting over 480 schools and nurseries to bolster emergency readiness and safety protocols throughout its educational landscape.
This initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority. The focus is on evaluating the preparedness levels of these institutions and enhancing their safety measures.
During the inspections, officials reviewed evacuation plans, assessed early warning systems, and gauged the readiness of response teams in both schools and nurseries. Moreover, practical exercises were implemented to ensure adherence to safety regulations and to evaluate staff awareness of emergency procedures.
Authorities stated that these inspections are part of a continuous, proactive monitoring strategy intended to improve operational preparedness in critical sectors. The goal is to ensure educational facilities can effectively manage diverse emergency scenarios while fostering a secure learning environment for students.
His Excellency Mubarak Hamad Al Mheiri, Undersecretary of ADEK, emphasized that ensuring the safety of students and staff is paramount. He pointed out that routine inspections, well-defined safety protocols, and robust coordination with relevant authorities are essential for maintaining preparedness, thereby assuring parents of the safety standards in place.
Brigadier Salem Abdullah Bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Director General of ADCDA, stated that these inspections are integral to transforming preparedness from mere planning into actionable readiness. He noted that realistic evaluations are crucial for identifying shortcomings and enhancing response capabilities within educational institutions.
He further added that ongoing monitoring and practical assessments significantly contribute to reinforcing safety measures, ensuring the utmost protection for both students and staff.
Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of ADCMC, reiterated the importance of the education sector within Abu Dhabi’s comprehensive preparedness framework. He emphasized that regular inspections and inter-agency coordination enhance readiness for various emergency situations.
Officials conveyed that the initiative represents a collective effort to foster prevention strategies, enhance collaboration, and ensure substantial preparedness across the education system. This approach also aims to maintain educational continuity while improving overall public safety in Abu Dhabi.
