Abu Dhabi is boldly stepping towards the future of transportation. During DRIFTx 2025, part of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week, Abu Dhabi Mobility forged a series of strategic partnerships with both local and international entities to redefine the emirate's mobility landscape.
These collaborations aim to create a smart, interconnected transport framework that includes autonomous vehicles, advanced air mobility, marine transport, and essential digital infrastructure. By harnessing cutting-edge technology, Abu Dhabi is establishing itself as a global pioneer in autonomous and sustainable transportation.
Cybersecurity and Digital Safety
A vital partnership with the Cyber Security Council is focused on securing Abu Dhabi’s smart mobility ecosystem. This collaboration encompasses threat intelligence sharing, coordinated cyber incident responses, training initiatives, and public awareness campaigns, ensuring a robust digital foundation for autonomous functions.
Autonomous Vehicles on Roads
Abu Dhabi Mobility is collaborating with Tensor Auto Inc. to launch autonomous vehicles in the region. This partnership provides both regulatory and technical assistance for the safe deployment of self-driving technology, creating a dynamic ecosystem for innovation. Concurrently, an agreement with Benteler Mobility will assess mini robo buses, examining infrastructure and operational viability for broader autonomous transportation.
Advanced Air Mobility
In its quest for innovation, the city is also looking towards the skies. A partnership with SkyDrive, a Japanese eVTOL manufacturer, is centered on pilot operations, vertiport construction, and smart charging stations for electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, aimed at integrating air mobility into Abu Dhabi’s urban transport system.
Automated Transit Networks
With the help of Glydways, Abu Dhabi is testing autonomous mass transit solutions to enhance first- and last-mile connectivity while minimizing dependence on traditional transport. This initiative will also involve crafting standards and regulatory guidelines for these emerging technologies.
Marine Mobility Innovations
The emirate is also advancing in maritime capabilities. A collaboration between Blue Gulf Group and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office focuses on autonomous marine vessels, conducting feasibility studies and field trials that comply with safety and environmental standards.
AI and Real-Time Traffic Monitoring
In partnership with e&, Abu Dhabi Mobility is deploying AI-driven drones for real-time traffic monitoring, facilitating traffic management, detecting congestion, and ensuring rapid incident responses to create safer road conditions.
Smart Logistics and Freight
Abu Dhabi Mobility is teaming up with Sinaha Technology to push forward autonomous freight initiatives, including the development of self-driving trucks and heavy-lift drones, aimed at optimizing logistics efficiency while lowering emissions.
Through these strategic alliances, Abu Dhabi is setting new industry standards for comprehensive, smart mobility, championing safety, sustainability, and technological progress across terrestrial, aerial, and maritime transportation.
