Despite escalating tensions in the Middle East due to ongoing conflicts involving various international players, Indonesia’s haj flights are set to proceed as scheduled. Officials have announced that the first groups of pilgrims will embark on their spiritual journey starting April 22.
With rigorous safety protocols in place, the government is committed to ensuring a secure pilgrimage for its citizens. Authorities are closely monitoring developments in the region but don’t foresee any disruptions impacting the haj.
For the upcoming 2026 haj season, Indonesia has been granted a substantial quota, allowing 221,000 pilgrims to participate, making it one of the largest numbers globally. A considerable segment of these pilgrims is aged between 41 and 64, with many elderly individuals also preparing for this important religious journey.
The first set of pilgrims will head to Medina starting April 22, followed by a second wave to Jeddah on May 7. Preparation involves simulation training for pilgrimage rituals, enabling participants to better understand what to expect upon arrival in Saudi Arabia.
Pilgrims are expressing optimism about their upcoming travels, hoping that ongoing conflicts will not interfere with their spiritual commitments. They note that the geopolitical issues are localized and unlikely to affect the primary pilgrimage routes.
Indonesian authorities remain dedicated to the safety and well-being of their citizens as they collaborate with international organizations. The haj season is confirmed to proceed from May 24 to 29, with all arrangements firmly in place.
This affirmation of continued haj departures underscores Indonesia’s efficient planning and its resolve to uphold religious duties without interruptions, even amidst global challenges.
