Celebrity Trainer Expresses Concerns Over Quick Weight-Loss Medications in India

Post by : Saif Nasser

In India, an increasing number of individuals are resorting to weight-loss medications such as Ozempic and Mounjaro, originally intended for diabetes management. However, many are now utilizing these drugs solely for rapid weight loss, raising alarm for celebrity fitness guru Yasmin Karachiwala.

With India housing one of the world's largest populations of overweight adults, the demand for quick results drives the popularity of these medications. Yasmin, who boasts 30 years of experience in the fitness industry, warns that taking these drugs without legitimate medical advice can yield serious health consequences, including muscle loss.

She points out that even individuals aiming to shed just a few kilograms are opting for these injections in hopes of quick results without altering their habits. Yasmin stresses that this is unsafe, as it may lead to muscle degradation rather than fat loss. Muscle is vital for strength, balance, and bone health; weakened muscle can ultimately result in frailty and conditions like osteoporosis in older age.

While Yasmin acknowledges that these drugs may be beneficial for certain individuals—particularly those with diabetes or significant obesity who have exhausted other options—she firmly believes they should not be a go-to for anyone seeking rapid weight loss.

Instead, she advocates for straightforward and healthy lifestyle changes, suggesting that individuals engage in weight training, consume adequate protein, and maintain proper hydration. Such practices foster long-term strength and health.

Yasmin emphasizes that muscle development requires patience and effort, highlighting that losing fat is notably easier than rebuilding muscle. Utilizing weight-loss drugs can have detrimental effects in the long run if muscle is compromised.

This important message was shared during the launch of her Yasmin Karachiwala Body Image studio in New Delhi. Renowned for her work with Bollywood stars like Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Kriti Sanon, and Ananya Panday, Yasmin champions prioritizing health over immediate results.
