The wheat harvesting season has officially started in the Al Najd area of Dhofar for the agricultural year 2025/2026. This initiative is guided by the Directorate General of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources within the Dhofar Governorate.
Covering a cultivated area of about 6,408 acres across 51 different farms, forecasts suggest production could reach up to 8,000 tons, signifying consistent growth in the local agriculture sector.
To enhance the productivity of local farmers, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources is providing subsidized wheat seeds and state-of-the-art harvesting equipment without any cost. This initiative is designed to improve both efficiency and yield during this critical period.
The ministry has also partnered with Oman Flour Mills Company to facilitate the effective collection and distribution of this year’s yield. These efforts underscore the government's dedication to ensuring food security and aiding local agricultural producers.
