Vietnam's Khanh Hoa Master Plan Set for 2050 Transformation

The government of Vietnam has formally ratified a significant developmental blueprint for Khanh Hoa, aimed at revolutionizing the coastal province into a contemporary urban landscape by 2050. The strategy extends its vision through 2075.

This extensive plan, endorsed by Pham Gia Tuc, lays the groundwork for holistic urban and economic advancement across more than 8,700 square kilometers, including a substantial marine area extending miles offshore.

Implementation will unfold in phases, with immediate goals set for 2030 and 2040, while overarching transformation is targeted for 2050. The extended strategy through to 2075 underscores Vietnam's commitment to forward-thinking planning.

The principal aim is to evolve Khanh Hoa into a Class I urban locality—modern, intelligent, green, and sustainable—positioning it as a vital growth node within the country and an internationally competitive coastal hub.

Khanh Hoa is envisioned as a central player in various sectors like marine economy, high-tech industries, logistics, clean energy, and innovation, also serving as a key connector to regional and global economic networks.

Tourism is earmarked as a crucial element of this developmental trajectory, aspiring to make the area a premier spot for international marine tourism, equipped with resorts, conferences, and upscale events to entice global travelers.

The plan prioritizes harmonious development between urbanization and natural ecosystems. Authorities aim to safeguard environmental integrity, maintain coastal beauty, and ensure growth aligns with climate change strategic adaptations.

Population growth projections indicate an increase to nearly 2.8 million by 2030, approximately 3.8 million by 2040, and surpassing 5 million by 2050, a reflection of robust economic strides.

Beyond socioeconomic advancement, the strategy underscores Khanh Hoa’s vital role in national defense and security. Its strategic coastline is essential for safeguarding maritime interests while fostering stable social and economic environments.
