Valve, synonymous with the leading PC gaming platform Steam, has made a significant announcement as it ventures back into the console market with its next-generation Steam Machine. This innovative device is designed to merge PC gaming with a traditional console experience, aiming to compete directly with major players like Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation.
Scheduled for release in early 2026, this console is anticipated to deliver exceptional performance powered by AMD graphics alongside Valve’s Linux-based SteamOS. Gamers can look forward to stunning 4K visuals at 60 frames per second and seamless access to Steam’s vast game library. Pricing details remain undisclosed but are expected to exceed the original 2014 Steam Machine’s starting price of $499.
The device will feature a one-of-a-kind controller equipped with two expansive trackpads, emulating mouse functionality and providing a unique hybrid gaming experience. Additionally, Valve plans to launch the Steam Frame VR headset, a wireless device built on SteamOS that utilizes advanced graphics to enhance rendering wherever the player is focused, resulting in a clearer and more resource-efficient VR adventure.
