Umm Al Emarat Park Achieves Guinness World Record with Recycled Mosaic

Post by : Mara Rahim

A new Guinness World Record has been set at Umm Al Emarat Park, where a stunning mosaic crafted from recycled plastic bottle caps has been unveiled. This achievement was celebrated on 18 December, with attendance from Park officials, Tadweer Group representatives, and Guinness adjudicators.

In early December, the community rallied together to contribute to the project, placing recycled bottle caps onto a specially designed wall featuring universal recycling symbols. This initiative, a key part of the “Cap Your Way to Sustainability” campaign, engaged schools, families, and local residents across Abu Dhabi to collect caps and help create the impressive 25-square-metre mosaic.

During two participation periods between 8-10 December, 356 individuals contributed their time, totaling 18 hours of effort and utilizing 24,846 bottle caps. The Park offered free entry to encourage broad participation, with Tadweer Group overseeing the design, structure, and cap collection efforts.

Abdulwahed Juma, Executive Director at Tadweer Group, expressed that this project plays a vital role in educating the community about sustainable waste management. It aligns with Abu Dhabi's goal to divert 80% of waste from landfills by 2030. Rasha Kablawi, a spokesperson for the Park, further noted that the mosaic signifies the community's dedication to environmental stewardship and showcases the impact of collective effort.

This record-breaking endeavor exemplifies the strength of collaboration, creativity, and commitment to sustainability, motivating residents to actively participate in environmental protection for future generations.
